Should Zambia Tolerate Homosexuality?

Don’t you think it is unfair to jail a homosexual found in an act of sodomy, when all other law breakers are left to roam your streets? Don’t you think it is rather too intolerant to punish defenseless people who have violated nobody? Isn’t this a violation of human rights? Contrary, haven’t you noticed the very corridors of your politics have an abhorring stench of corruption, abuse of public funds, and national resources, and a total absence of economic frugality? Aren’t these worse throat ranching evils to your morality more disastrous than your unfair claims against homosexuality?

Well, fully agreed! All sin is the breaking of the Law and if found the Penal Code shall and should apply. But, hold on a second, despite all other evils/sin found in Zambia, have you considered why a nation given to God and founded on the authority of the Bible should react against one particular sin called homosexuality the way Zambia has? Listen!

To begin with, do not be cheated, Homosexuality (whether orientation or behavior/act) is not a disease, it is not a genetic condition, it is not an act of the gods upon an innocent humanity; rather, it is a terrible sin that is classified as “The Ultimate Defiance of God”. Like a caged bird, homosexuality is a dreadful bondage that deceives its victims with freedom. In the Bible, it invited God’s judgment upon a person or a nation. As God’s verdict was poured on Sodom in Genesis 19 (where the word sodomy finds it origin) so does it still happen today.

Are we saying homosexuality is the worst kind of sin? Absolutely not! Should homosexuals be banished as the scams and rejects of society? Utterly no! Sin is sin and no sins are greater than the other. However, every sin has difference consequences, and homosexuality is a serious problem because of its grave consequences upon a person and later on upon a nation.

For that reason, homosexuality has never been a controversy that has ever taken Zambia by surprise. It does not matter if other worlds on earth or under the earth have accepted it and view it as a different life style. Zambia decided a long time ago never to compromise its long held biblical view and position. Certainly, like any other country, Zambia does struggles with extraordinary immorality in many other areas. Nonetheless, that should never be a warrant to degrade further into a debase mind (Rom 1:28) of homosexuality. Why?

First, according to Rom 1:18-23 Homosexuality is such a serious problem because it results from a defiance of God. Zambia believes in the God of the Bible whom she shan’t defile. The Truth of God should never be suppressed. All other countries in the world today that are pro- homosexual begun by rejecting God, rejecting the Bible, becoming anti-God and before long the end results are writings on the wall. Now they can’t stand to see others fear God.

Second, according to 1 Tim 1:10; 1 Cor 6:9-10 and Gal 5:20-21 Homosexual desires do not develop naturally. They are a product of a sinful heart and are works of the flesh that will repudiate a person from inheriting the kingdom of God. It is one of those things that Jesus said they come from the abundance of a fallen heart.

Third, according to Rom 1:21 Homosexuality is simply a refusal to honor God as God. It is a lack of gratefulness to God for creating them. An absolute futility of the mind. A denial of the very God.

Fourth, according to Rom 1:22-23. Homosexuality is a darkening of the heart that believes it is accountable to no one. It is a false claim of human wisdom, and yet a lie to self.

Fifth, according to Rom 1:24, 28 Homosexuality is a removal of restraint, restriction or limitation through indulgence resulting in more pollution and dishonoring of the body. A subjection to a debase mind.

Sixth, according to Rom 1:26-27. Homosexuality is having been delivered over to degrading passions by God as a form of judgement, whereby both men and women abandon the natural function of sexuality and possess homosexual desire that results in indecent acts of sodomy.

Therefore, the Bible teaches that homosexuality (Lev 18:22; 20:13) is immorality that offends God. Homosexuality is the ultimate defiance of God. To that end, it is only sensible for the Zambian people to safe guard themselves from ever cliffhanging in the canyon of defying God. Zambia must remain securely persuaded and convinced that it is a nation under God and His Word is her supreme authority. Consequently, as a sovereign state, the Zambian people should uphold the Laws of Zambia that guard her from immorality (1 Tim 1:8-10).

In conclusion, is there hope for the homosexuals? Absolutely yes! We should still love them by telling them the truth and warning them of the dangers. But of most importance, any homosexual person living in Zambia (walking freely in the streets or locked up in Jail) or in any other country must reach out for help by running to the Lord Jesus Christ and plead for his mercy and forgiveness. Only then will he/she be transformed, saved from damnation and set free from the bondage of homosexuality.
